The profile of the trainers

 

 

1) Dr. James Li (李宏珉)Principal of GreatMinds School. His area of expertise is primary level education research. He is the invited author for the Singapore first education journal “EduNation”. He got his BSc. from Fudan University and Ph.D in NUS. Dr. Li had been the form teacher of the first gifted class in Fudan University. Dr. Li has received three times 'Best Teaching Award' from Fudan University, the Shanghai Education Bureau, and China MOE. He is the co-author of the two books: Guide to Solving Problems in Physical Chemistry and Daddy teach Modern Science, both published in 1996. Dr. Li is also an international trainer for teaching methods, and has trained Maths and Science teachers in Philippines and Shanghai. Some of his recent publishes on Singapore education are: “Small school, small Class is the future of education”, “Why we shouldn’t abolish the PSLE”, “Singapore vs. Shanghai: a comparison between primary-level maths syllabus and textbooks”, and “Misconception in primary level science”.

李宏珉博士,博思书院院长。李博士专长于小学教学方法研究,是新加坡第一本教育杂志《新学》的特约作者。李博士本科毕业于复旦大学化学系,并获新加坡国立大学物理化学博士。李博士曾是复旦大学第一届理科基地班的导师,并获得复旦大学、上海市教育局以及中国教育部的三项教学奖。他也是教学方法的国际讲师,曾在上海和菲律宾开课,指导当地的数理科教师。李博士与人合作著有《物理化学解题指南》,《阿爸教现代科技》等著作。近期发表的有关新加坡教育的文章有,小校小班是教育的未来微调教育政策,提升教学水平从小六会考的压力谈起”,新加坡 vs上海:小学数学教学大纲和课本的比较”,以及小学科学中的一些错误概念”等。

 

 

 

 

2) Mr. Kwok Wai Keong (郭伟强) Vice-Principal of GreatMinds School, holding a BSc. Degree from NUS. He has more than 15 years of teaching experience in Mathematics and Science in both Primary and Secondary schools, including ACS (Independent) and in an international school. Mr Kwok is the academic planner for Primary Science and Secondary Mathematics.

郭伟强先生,博思书院副校长。毕业于新加坡国立大学。郭伟强先生拥有十多年教学经验,曾任教于英华中学及海外国际学校。擅长小学及中学各年级数学及科学课程.

 

 

 

3) Dr. Tony Gao Head of Department for Secondary Science. He received his Ph.D in Physics from Chinese Academy of Science and was a postdoctoral fellow of NTU. He had worked in the field of microelectronics for many years and obtained several inventions and patents. Now he is teaching Secondary Science and Physics competition in Greatminds. One of his students was selected and represented Singapore in the 26th International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) 2013 held in Taipei and obtained Overall Champions.

高博士,博思书院中学科学部主任,中国科学院物理学博士, 南洋理工大学博士后。高博士从事微电子领域研究工作多年,并取得多项发明和专利。高博士现在博思书院教授中学科学及物理竞赛课程。他的一名学生作为新加坡的代表参加了2013年在台北举办的第26届青年物理学家竞赛,并获得团体冠军。

 

  

 

4) Mr. Daniel Chen Vice-principal of GreatMinds School. He holds a BSc. from Fudan University and a Master of Science from NUS. He has many years of teaching experience in Olympiad Mathematics competition and Primary level Mathematics. Over the last 3 years, a total of 27 students had achieved Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze in SMOPS (Singapore Mathematical Olympiad for Primary School) organized by Hwa Chong. One of them achieved 2nd position in 2011 SMOPS.

 

陈先生是博思书院副校长,中国复旦大学理学学士,新加坡国立大学理学硕士。陈先生专长教授小学奥林匹克数学竞赛及小三GEP数学。近三年来,他的很多学生在小六数学竞赛中荣获铂金,金,银,和铜牌奖,其中陈乐萌同学获取2011SMOPS 新加坡个人第二名。

 

 

 

5) Mr. John Sihoe graduated from Curtin University of Technology (Australia) with a Bachelor of Education (Biological Sciences) and a minor in English as Second Language (ESL). He was a former ACS teacher to teach General Sciences and Chemistry from 1995-2004. Mr Sihoe had 4 years of teaching experience (2005-2008) in private tuition. He is currently teaching Primary and Secondary Science, English and O-level Chemistry in GreatMinds School.

 

 


司徒彦忠先生, 本科毕业于澳大利亚Curtin大学教育系生物科学ESL专业 。拥有十多年教学经验,曾英华中任教九年,主要担任基础科学和化学课程并有四年中小学补习经验。他目前在博思书院教导中学科学,英文'O'水准化学课程

 

 

 

6) Ms Jess Chan graduated from National Institute of Education with a BSc in Education (Hons) in 2006 after working in clinical and research laboratories for seven years. She is a passionate Science teacher and has been teaching upper primary Science for the past seven years. In 2010, she was sent by MOE to attend the Life Science Summer Programme in the University of Washington whereby she learned and worked with teachers in the United States about Science Inquiry Learning.   When she was a trainee teacher, she was actively teaching in the Discovery Vocation Camps whereby she passed on her passion for Science by engaging young children through Science activities, projects and learning journeys. She personally believes that it is the sense of wonder that makes Science comes alive and it is important that children never stop asking questions in order to formulate their own thoughts and make sense of the world around them. Ms Jess has been teaching Primary 5 and 6 Science in GreatMinds School for 4 years already.

 

陈老师于 2006年 毕业于新加坡教育学院,荣获理科学士学位。曾经在医药研究所 工作 七年,具有七年的本地小学科学教学经验,于2010年接受教育部委派 前往美国 华盛顿大学,学习交流生物科学课程。担任博思书院科学教师四年,主要教导小五、小六科学课程。

 

 

 

 

7) Mr Kevin Khoo Hng Kiat Graduate from NUS with a BA. (2nd Upper Honors) and a minor in Mathematics. He also received the MOE Teaching Award during his study in NUS and NIE. Mr Khoo had taught both ‘A’ and ‘O’ level Economics and Mathematics in Dunman High School and Tanjong Katong Girls’ School for 3 years and had 8 years of teaching experience in private tuition. He is currently teaching Sec. 3 and 4 Additional Mathematics in GreatMinds School

 

许老师毕业于新加坡国立大学,获得经济与数学学士学位。在校期间,获得教育部教师奖学金。曾在德明政府中学、加东女子中学担任经济与数学教师三年。有八年的中学补习经验,目前在博思书院教导中三、中四数学。

 

 

 

 

  1. 8) 葛老师: 华文部主任, 拥有十二年本地华文教学经验,2008年获得 ACC心理辅导培训学院 (Academy of certified counsellors )辅导心理学专科文凭 。曾经在政府小学、中学教导作文、汉语拼音、华族文化活动营等课程。有爱心、耐心和专业的青少年心理辅导技巧,擅长激发学生学习华文的兴趣和自信心,根据学生的能力灵活教导。
